She was born on March 29 1985 in Roswell New Mexico. Gerina Michel Mendoza is her name at birth. Gerina Stevenson is the daughter of Mexican parents Rita Stevenson and Alan Stevenson. Stevenson is Mexican as well as American. She has always been a fan of sports. Gerina began playing golf when she was just 15 years old. Gerina finished her high-school education in Goddard High School. When she was a student in high school she won at the New Mexico Golf State Tournament. Her volleyball skills were also acknowledged at the national stage. She was enrolled at Texas's University of Texas, Texas during the 2003 academic year. During the senior years of her career, she was the winner of every event in which she competed. During the undergraduate year, she received the Conference USA's player of the year as well as UTEP Female Athletic Champion of the Year.
